How refreshing - a Republican tells the truth about W's "strategy" and why at long last most people have no confidence in his way of doing things in the world. I saw this yesterday on TV and was so happy to hear a Republican say these things. Not that this resolution will stop W from doing whatever he thinks the voice in his head is telling him to do, nutcase that he is. But it was good to hear Hagel tell the truth anyway.

the way our "leaders" treat veterans in this country is a crime.

and i mean that literally.

our soldiers are just cannon fodder for the interests of the rich
and heaven help them, assuming they survive these wars of choice,
if they come back disabled or ill and need help
because they won't be getting much from the ones who sent them there.

so donate something if you can.

Later - after I made a donation, Patti emailed me and that reminded me that I should write to my senators and other reps about this kind of situation with veterans.

If you can't donate, you can always write to yours as well to help. Find their email addresses and other info here -

Politics again, skip if you're not interested of course.

Jane Smiley wrote a great essay on Bush the Madman, which ends like this...

>>Maybe the bums planned this mess for their own profit, or maybe they planned to profit without mess; maybe some of them regret what they have wrought. However, they all share the blame for whatever he does next. >>

...but she forgot to address the voters (and non-voters) of 2000 and 2004, and the Congresspeople who wrote the blank check. They certainly share a large part of the blame as well, whether they did it out of malice or just plain stupidity.

Hindsight is 20-20 and all that, but what we really need is a majority of voters in this country with better foresight. Even the slimmest of majorities will do, so I hope more people will get off their butts and vote for SANITY in 2008, if we even have a country left to save by that time.

Rally for peace in DC and SF and other locations on 1/27 -

http://unitedforpeace.org/

We marched a lot before the war started, to no avail.

Time to march some more anyway though.

Because W still doesn't get the picture.

I used to just consider him retarded.

But the past few years, he seems not only retarded but a real fascist.

I took this part out of the previous post which is now FO...

Add your name to the petition if you want congress to have a say in what W has been failing so miserably at for far too long already -

http://www.tedkennedy.com/

They should have stopped him four years ago of course, but they were all too wimpy except for who, just Barbara Lee, all by herself?

Anyway, I rarely post petition type things, but saw this one this morning and I feel like it.
