leaving, but not on a jet plane
Sep. 22nd, 2003 09:08 amWe had a great weekend, but it was way too hot and it wears me out.
Saturday we went to a birthday party for a friend on the beach in Pacifica - very nice, lots of good food, kids running around, bonfire with marshmallows, the whole enchilada.
Joan from Sacto spent the night, said she was leaving early Sunday because she had a backlog of work at home, but we ended up going to the Conservatory of Flowers in GG Park, which has just reopened after 8 years of reconstruction. It's so fanatastic - such a perfect glass-paned Victorian conservatory, one of the few like it in the world, I think. I took bunches of pictures inside, but I can't get the driver of my card reader installed on this new machine, so I haven't uploaded. I may have to just buy a new card reader, after I've spent so much time trying to install drivers already, it pisses me off.
But anyway, we then went to the Legion of Honor for lunch, since it's air-conditioned in there, the food is good, and after the Conservatory, we felt like we'd been in a steam bath with all our clothes on.
She headed back to Sacto around 2 and we collapsed for a while. I got the bright idea we should go to Stonestown because it's air-conditioned, but by the time we got out there, it was closing (at 7 pm - I'd forgotten it was Sunday and malls close so early). I hate indoor malls anyway, so no big loss there.
So we drove around in our AC'd little Toyota rental car for a while, then walked around West Portal, where I haven't gone in about 20 years, then headed out to the Safeway at the beach to buy tequila and Odwalla Summertime Lime, with which you can make very easy margaritas - half a glass of tequila, half Summertime Lime, some ice, and presto, you are good to go.
Came home, sat in front of a fan and drank Odwalla Margaritas, ate guacamole and chips and ice cream bars. Such a nutitious dinner. Dr. Phil would roll his eyes, I am sure. I just read a some of his new book on losing weight, and I don't see anything new there so far, and I don't like his attitude about certain things, so I have a feeling I should just send the book back for a refund (so many people are talking about it, I got curious to see what he had to say).
Sooo.... now it's Monday. I have to finish the Florida Family Law index, email it back to my editor, assemble three AB packages, go to Office Depot, Walgreens and Flax, and then pack some clothes and stuff because tomorrow we're going up the coast for the rest of the week, in a lowbudget sort of way (which is why we have a Toyota rental car at the moment).
I'll try to catch up when I get back, of course.
