looking better all the time

Merced is looking better to me all the time. I was looking at some ads for houses for rent, and there were TONS of them under $1,000 a month - whereas in SF, you really can't rent a decent studio apartment for less than $1,000.

And we live in a 2 bedroom flat in a quiet area with ocean and GG Park views, so you can imagine what our rent is (I'd rather not say exactly, because it freaks people in other places out, even though it's slightly less than market rate here for this kind of apartment).

So I am having visions of keeping the same income we have here, but moving to a place where the rents are one-third what they are here, and the prices of houses to buy are also about one-third what there are here.

I saw a 3 bedroom house with a pool listed for rent for about $1100 a month, I think it was. Yep, it's sounding better all the time.

I'd like to go check it out anyway and see how different it is from 35 years ago.
