I posted this as a comment in someone else's journal, but I wanted to keep a copy of it here as well...

>>...it's about balance. The truth isn't always "positive" but telling the truth is always a positive thing to do (in my opinion). And the correct response to some things is indeed anger. Too many people these days act as if anger is something to be avoided at all costs - and they drug themselves into not feeling it, one way or the other, but it's still inside them.

You can be angry without harming anyone else - and sometimes speaking what it is that angers you is the most positive thing you can do. Anger can be used to HELP people in ways that being "nice" will never accomplish in this world.

I wish for a lot of things too, but reality isn't so horrible either, and I do have many things I would wish for if I didn't have them, you know? Like my health, my husband, my daughter, my friends, a roof over my head, good food to eat, work I enjoy doing, a beautiful city to live in to inspire me all the time, and so on.

I wish for a lot of things to change politically and socially in this country, that probably never will change enough in my lifetime in the direction I want them to change, but I will keep doing whatever I can in that direction myself anyway.

Cultures change one person at a time, after all - which I just said to a friend who was telling me how she couldn't change the culture we live in. No, but she can change herself and her own mindset, and not buy into what Madison Avenue tells her to do and be and think.<<

Carry on. :)
