More on Hillary vs. Obama...

I'm not leaning towards either one of them and don't plan to give either one of them any money in the primary season - the rich folks can do that and cause whatever drama they like about it.

I do think Hillary should have lashed out at Geffen and not Obama though, since it was what Geffen said that pissed her off.   She's so determined to somehow make Obama look bad, but it only reflects back on her.

I think many Dems are attracted to Obama not because they don't like the Clintons, but just because maybe it's time for someone who hasn't already had eight years in the White House (even though they were very good years for the country overall) and who isn't quite as entrenched in the old party machinery as much as the Clintons are.

And with the country as polarized as it is, there is a block of people who will NEVER vote Republican and another block who will NEVER vote for a Democrat, so that leaves it up to the small percentage of people who are undecided on election day.

And maybe Hillary and Obama  will cancel each other out and the Dems will nominate someone who can win more than 49% of the votes out there.    I have a feeling neither Hillary or Obama will do very well in some areas of the country that are full of people who do not want to see a woman or a black person become President, and would not vote for either one of them no matter which party they were with.

I'd love to see a woman president or a non-white president someday, but race and gender are really non-issues for me when I vote.   I don't think that's the case with about half the voters in the US, however.

It will be an interesting primary season anyway!  And may the best person win, in both the primaries and the election in 2008 - the person who will do the most good for the most people in this country and the world, not just do more of what we've had since 2000, which has been horrible for both our own country and for the world at large.

Maybe it's time to get those "Re-elect Gore" bumper stickers out. :)

I voted for him in 2000 just like more than half the voters did... And in 2004, I voted for Edwards in the primary, and if Hillary and Obama cancel each other out this time around, maybe he will get the nomination this time - and we could do a lot worse for sure.
