palace of fine arts, originally uploaded by judywatt.

the sky was so blue yesterday
but we are back to thick fog today
at least out here where i live.

which is fine, i actually get more done
when i am not drawn to wandering around outside
as much as i am on the blue sky days.

went to post office already, mailed the lumix back -
the annoying manager was there but he didn't harass me
as i wasn't mailing anything by media mail.

i think i will wait a couple months to buy a new camera -
there are some new ones coming out this summer
that i want to check out first.

but i wasn't aware of them before i sent for the lumix.

i haven't uploaded anything to istock in about six months -
but i uploaded a few the other day and most were accepted
which is good, but they were from the little canon a620
the one i call my pocketcam
that only cost about 250.

the forums there are full of threads about
such expensive DSLR cameras, but i still really don't think
it's the camera that matters as much as the person
pressing the shutter button.

up to a point -
i mean it helps to have a camera
that takes clear pictures
and pictures that are large enough.

but a lot of the pics i have up there were taken
with an old olympus c4000, several years ago
that only had 4 megapixels.

and most were taken with my old c8080 that i sold.

and then some with the canon pocket camera.

so go figure.

i still want a better camera though -
but i need one i can shoot through the LCD with
and they are just starting to make some good DSLRs
that you can do that with.

so i will wait a little longer
and see what comes out this summer.

somewhat manipulated image -
so i consider it digital art at this point
and not a photograph anymore.

locals will recognize the wall though
i am sure :)

here is one that was not manipulated -

i guess it is starting to turn green

in some places on the walls but it seems a lot slower

than copper would normally turn verdigris.
