i did live in a couple small towns
back in the 1950's
but i can't remember much about those places at all.

in fact i have almost no memory of any of the houses
that my family lived in during my whole childhood
from birth to 18.

mostly i have lived in CA,
and in SF way more than half my life
- all my adult life actually, since i was 18
so this i consider to be my home town
the only town i really know well at all.

very very well
home sweet home and all that :)

well i finished reading the road last night
and then of course could not go to sleep for a long time.

everyone should read it, really.

it's very sad  and very scary but if nothing else
will make you think about how easy life is now
and how much we have to be grateful for.

and how beautiful the earth is
and how horrible we could make it
if we let the "evil-doers" take over everything
and that inclues the ones running our own government
not just the ones running other countries.

it could happen in an instant -
something that would destroy everything
and everyone.

reminds me of some retired general the other day
who was talking about how so many people think it doesn't matter
who they vote for really.

and he was saying, well, we have the perfect example right now
of what happens when a few too many people vote for the most stupid person running.
so he said yes, it does matter, so don't vote for a moron next time.

and of course i could not agree more.

here is the hardback edition

2. What bores you to tears? Football, baseball... spectator sports in general.

3. Do you have rhythm?  I think so.

4. Who would you like to see today?  My husband and daughter.

5. Friday fill-in:  I always thought I'd be better at a lot of things.
