gotta have it syndrome...

I don't think this type of spending pattern
is only common among students
who are living on borrowed money.

it's also common among growups.
it's the american way.

i read the other day
that savings in the US
is now negative one percent overall
which i guess it never has been before.

i was watching O yesterday and i can see why -
it was about decluttering
and it made me see that my clutter is very  minor
compared to most middle class familes.

the amount of crap they had stored
like tons of clothes with the tags still on
was pretty appalling.

and then they talked about how they went shopping
for MORE clothes every week.

very bizarre.  and not just clothes, but all kinds of stuff
overflowing every single room.

most of it not paid for of course.

just talking to myself
getting ready to watch 'the office'
which is so funny :)

yeah.. I don't get it either. though I'm guilty of buying loads of art and textile magazines and books and such.

I tell the kids, if you want something new.. 2 old things have to go out. the boy will hand me old socks! ha!

Its absolutely shocking how spoiled children grow up in the past 20 years. with so much and no ability to appreciate the value of a dollar.

Buying clothes or even shopping every week seems so incredibly boring to me! besides being a waste of money

some kids are spoiled while too many others go without - that's the real crime in this country i think.

Judy, thanks for mentioning the article here. I am glad you extended it to the non-students as well. :)

Btw, sorry about those messed up images in the article, I realized it after I clicked on the link through your journal.
