shirley valentine is finally out on dvd and is only 10 bucks

it was made in 1989 and i think i've only seen it once since then but on vhs -
why it took more than 15 years to be put on dvd i have no idea...
but anyway, it's a great little movie.

it's about a british housewife with an obnoxious husband.

she runs off to a greek island for a few days
with a friend who then sort of abandons her there.

she decides not to go  home to england at all
so she gets a job as a waitress
and much fun ensues.

rent it or buy it if you like stories about housewives
who run away to greek islands.

i saw a fantastic version of this on stage in a small theater in miami, fl with sally kellerman (of mash fame) as shirley.

i never saw any versions of the play, but i've heard it was done many times many ways with some great actresses :)

i have it! one of my all time favorites. Have you ever seen Saving Grace? another funny british movie. the husband dies and leaves her broke, so she goes into business with her gardener. another fav of mine.
