can't wait

I like to go up to Mendocino at least once in August every year, because that's when EVERYTHING is blooming like crazy at the MCBG, and of course it's just nice to get away for a couple days anytime.
I just got this place for two days in August and it looks so nice! I know exactly where this house is in the village but we have never stayed in this unit before - I think it was only recently turned into a vacation rental.
So I am happy about our two days away in two months!
And I can't wait for our longer vacation in late September too. That's when we go back to Ashland for some plays at the OSF, and we get to stay in the High Street Cottage for a whole week.
And then we will still have time left after that to do other things.
Joe says he has about two months of vacation time accrued right now - wish we could take it all at one time, but it was hard to even get him to take this one day off during the summer - I had to insist he put it on his calendar NOW.
I want to go back to San Miguel, dammit! That really needs to be a whole month at one time... and I keep saying "maybe next year we can do that again" but it's been four years already and I know it won't be this year.
So maybe next year we can do that again ???
And I want to go back to Amsterdam too, and to London and Paris and Italy. I always say I hate to travel, and generally I really do not enjoy the process of getting my body to another location - but there still are a few places I actually want to go!
I know this all sounds so self-absorbed and extravagant, but you have no idea how many years we had no money for any vacations at all. Or if we took one anyway and used borrowed money, we had to spend years paying off the debt.
And who knows what the future holds. If there is somewhere you really want to go, and you are healthy and able and have the money to go there, and your boss will let you out of his sight for a while, do not wait.

Date: 2008-06-07 06:38 pm (UTC)i know that house from walking by it a zillion times in the past 30 years, but have not stayed in that little attached apartment, so i hope it's a good one!
it's right up the street from Cafe B and the 955 Ukiah restaurant - both of those are very good places to have dinner in the village.
if you go up to fort bragg to do some stuff, check out V'Canto for dinner sometime. also there is a pizza place in FB that is GREAT - it's called Piacci.
Pacific Star Winery north of FB is a great place to go as well. They have a tasting room in FB now, but the winery itself is so beautiful, it's worth going there too.
